Obeisance to Shri Hanuman


గొష్హ్పదీకృఇతవారీషన్ మషకీకృఇతరాక్షసం
రామాయణమహామాలారత్నన్ వందేనిలాత్మజం 1
{ I make obeisance to the son of Vayu (the Wind God),
who tamed the vast ocean into a hoof-print (in
the mud), turned the demons into mosquitoes, and is
the gem in the great garland that the Ramayana is 1}

అంజనానందనన్వీరన్ జానకీషొకనాషనం
కపీషమక్షహంతారన్ వందె లణ్కాభయణ్కరం 2
{ I make obeisance to the hero who gladdened
Anjana (his mother), the destroyer of Sita's sorrow,
the lord of the monkeys, the slayer of (Ravana's son)
Aksha, and a terror to (the inhabitants of) Lanka 2}

మహావ్యాకరణాంభొధిమంథమానసమందరం
కవయంతన్ రామకీర్త్యా హనుమంతముపాస్మహె 3
{ I worship Hanuman whose intellect, like the
Mandara mountain (which was used to churn the ocean
of milk for nectar) acted as the churning rod for the
great ocean of the science of grammar,
and who keeps praising the fame of Rama 3}

ఉల్లంఘ్య సింధొహ్ సలిలన్ సలీలన్
యహ్ షొకవహ్నిన్ జనకాత్మజాయాహ్
ఆదాయ తెనైవ దదాహ లణ్కాన్
నమామి తన్ ప్రాఝ్ణ్జలిరాఝ్ణ్జనెయం 4
{ I bow with folded hands to Anjaneya who, having
crossed the water of the ocean as if in play, took away
the fire of grief consuming Sita and with that fire
itself burnt down Lanka 4}

మనొజవన్ మారుతతుల్యవెగన్
జితెంద్రియన్ బుద్ధిమతాన్ వరిష్హ్ఠం
వాతాత్మజన్ వానరయూథముఖ్యన్
శ్రీరామదూతన్ షిరసా నమామి 5
{ I bow with bent head to him who is quick of mind,
fast as the wind, the conqueror of the sense organs, the
best among the wise, the son of Vayu, chief of the
monkey hordes, and the messenger of Shri Rama 5}

ఆఝ్ణ్జనెయమతిపాటలాననన్
కాఝ్ణ్చనాద్రికమనీయవిగ్రహం
పారిజాతతరుమృఇలవాసినన్
భావయామి పవమాననందనం 6
{ I meditate on the beloved son of Vayu, Anjaneya,
with bright-red countenance and body attractive as a
golden mountain, who lives under the Parijata tree 6}

యత్ర యత్ర రఘునాథకీర్తనన్
తత్ర తత్ర కృఇతమస్తకాఝ్ణ్జలిం
బాష్హ్పవారిపరిపూర్ణలొచనన్
మారుతిర్నమత రాక్షసాంతకం 7
{ Bow to Hanuman, the slayer of the demons, who is
present with folded hands raised to his head, his eyes
brimming with tears of joy, whenever the name of
Shri Rama is uttered with devotion 7}



హనుమానఞ్జనాసూనుర్వాయుపుత్రొ మహాబలహ్ |
రామెష్టహ్ ఫాల్గునసఖహ్ పి~ణ్గాక్షోమితవిక్రమహ్ || 1||
Hanuman, Anjana's son, the son of wind-god,
one endowed with great strength,
the favourite of Sri Rama, Arjuna's friend,
one having reddish brown eyes and unlimited valour

ఉదధిక్రమణష్చైవ సీతాషొకవినాషనహ్ |
లక్ష్మణప్రాణదాతా చ దషగ్రీవస్య దర్పహా || 2||
The one who leapt across the ocean,
who dispelled the deep anguish of Sita,
the saviour of Laxmana and who destroyed the pride of Ravana

ఎవన్ ద్వాదష నామాని కపీంద్రస్య మహాత్మనహ్ |
స్వాపకాలె ప్రబొధె చ యాత్రాకాలె చ యహ్ పఠెత్ || 3||
If one recites these twelve names of the noble Hanuman -
the best among the monkeys before retiring to bed,
on rising up in the morning or during journeys

తస్య సర్వ భయన్ నాస్తి రణె చ విజయీ భవెత్ |
రాజద్వారె గహ్వరె చ భయన్ నాస్తి కదాచన || 4||
He will not face fear from any quarter He will be successful in battles He need not have fear either while entering the royal door, or a deep cavern (From Ananda Ramayana, Manohara Kanda13-8-11)
